Bhubaneswar: The Heritage Cabinet, in its first meeting today approved the proposal to set up the Odia Language University in Puri district. The proposed university will come up at Satyabadi in Puri district, informed chief secretary AP Padhi after the meeting.

The high-level meeting of the Heritage Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also decided to create a special trust and corpus for Anand Bhawan Museum and Learning Centre which was recently inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind in Cuttack.

The trust will be modelled on the lines of Netaji Birthplace Museum with certain flexibilities, informed Padhi.

“A draft for Odisha culture & heritage policy will be prepared for promotion, publicity and research on language, arts, temples and other rich heritage of the State,” said Padhi.

Padhi further informed that a centralised Directorate will be set up for the public libraries in Odisha.

Though the Public Libraries Act was passed in 2001 and the director of Culture department was named its director, keeping in mind the number of libraries under various departments, a decision has been taken to create a centralised directorate for all the public libraries in State.
