Bengaluru/Mumbai: At a time when the people in Odisha were dipped in religious festivities, non-resident Odia communities were also not far behind in celebrating the Rath Yatra festival in several parts of the globe on Saturday.

In Bengaluru, Ratha Yatra was celebrated at multiple places of the city where devotees pulled the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra.

"We are not feeling bad that we are not in Puri as Ratha Yatra is being celebrated in a grand manner here in Bengaluru. We can closely see the deities atop their respective chariots," said a devotee.

Another senior citizen said, "I am here in Bengaluru as my son works here. It was a great experience to be a part of the celebrations outside Odisha."

The non-resident Odias in Mumbai too organised Rath Yatra and pulled chariots of the Holy Trinity with much enthusiam.

In Navi Mumbai, the festival was organised by Jay Jagannath Lok Taran Trust at Balaji Angnari of Kharghar area.

Speaking on the occasion, Organiser Ranjan Ray said, "The festival is being held in a grand manner and devotees from across Mumbai attend the event."

Meanwhile, in Puri, lakhs of devotees pulled the chariot of Lord Jagannath with much enthusiasm up to Gundicha temple on Sunday.

Though the chariots of Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra had reached Gundicha temple yesterday, Lord Jagannath’s chariot– Nandighosa halted midway near Balagandi chhak during the Rath Yatra celebrations.
