Puri: Three non-Hindus on Saturday sneaked into the 12th century shrine breaching the high security cordon and other security apparatus put in place causing much embarrassment for the temple and police administration.

In view of the tourist inflow in New Years Eve and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to the temple, security arrangements were made for smooth darshan of the deities. However, three persons believed to be non-Hindus managed to enter the revered place about 15 minutes before chief minister’s visit.

However, the trio was spotted inside the outer sphere of the temple before they were whisked away by temple authorities. The incident sparked tension among the servitors following which the temple administration had a tough time to bring the situation under control.

Though sign board citing entry restriction for non-Hindus has been put before the main entrance from the Lions Gate, several attempts to enter the temple has been seen in the recent past.

The security personnel last night detained a foreign national attempting to enter into the temple here. Prior to this, three such attempts were made in the last one month to enter the temple.
