Cuttack: Aiming at a hunger free state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced another pro-people scheme of providing rice at Re 1 /kg to all BPL families including Antyodaya beneficiaries, SC&ST hostel inmates, disabled people and all APL families of KBK regions.

Hoisting the Tricolour here at the Barabati stadium on 64th Republic Day, Patnaik said “My aim is to build a hunger free Odisha”.

He hoped that over 58 lakh families would get the food security under the new scheme. Speaking on the implementation of schemes, the CM said people of all sections have been benefitted by the government’s welfare schemes all time.

On the education system, the CM felt proud that the literacy rate in the state has increased considerably. Similarly, the GDP rate has also risen. The all round development by the various schemes has also led to an improved life of rural people, he said.

Emphasising the women security, Patnaik said that the government has been trying constantly for the safety of women. The fast-track courts are being established in the state to tackle the crimes related to women, he added.

He thanked the farmers of the state for playing a pivotal role in increasing food production and said the government has been giving priorities to technology in the field of agriculture. The CM also assured to bring food processing policy in the state very soon.
