Bhubaneswar: Union minister Srikant Jena on Thursday declared Rs five lakh assistance from MPLAD fund for construction of the collapsed anganwadi centre in Suansia village of Nayagarh district that claimed seven lives on Tuesday. Jena who visited the village with a team of Congress party men also met the bereaved families and handed over cheques of Rs 50,000 through Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers company to each of them.

While Congress has demanded stern action against the persons responsible for the mishap, Ranpur MLA said the incident should be treated politically. PCC president Niranjan Patnaik, leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh and few others also accompanied Jena during his visit.
