Rourkela: With an aim to expedite coal transportation, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) is scheduled to be signed among Union Coal ministry, Railway ministry and the Odisha government during prime minister Narednra Modi's visit to the Steel City on April 1.

During the tour, Modi will unveil the second modernisation project of the steel plant here. Commissioned at a cost of 12,000 crore, the project is aimed at producing 4.5 million tonne steel per annum, sources said.

The district administration has left no stone unturned for the high-profile visit. The gate at the special airstrip and hoardings are well prepared to welcome the prime minister.

Soon after landing at the airport, Modi will drive straight to the plant where he will spend at least 25 minutes in unveiling the project. Later, he will address a public meeting near the airstrip.

Very high level security arrangements have been made for the VVIP visit. According to Home ministry's guidelines, the carcade of the PM will be brief in which no State minister or official would be included. Sundergarh SP will be in charge of the cavalcade while police headquarters has been asked to arrange bullet-proof car and jammer.

The Bhubaneswar station manager of Air India has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing food for the VIPs. The food will be prepared in the presence of special police officers and a doctor will examine it before being served.

Since it will be a complete official tour, no party symbols and flags will be put up during the visit at any place including the venue of public meeting.
