‘Missing’ Daringbadi youth returns home after 25 years

Phulbani: Rajalaxmi Bisoyi’s happiness knew no boundaries after her son, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances from Kandhamal, returned home after 25 years.

The elderly woman had almost lost hope as her son Tarun Bisoyi went missing after he left home in Daringbadi without informing anybody. Family says Tarun was angry on something and untraceable since the day he left home.

According to Tarun, he had moved to Amritsar where a Sikh man helped him and made arrangements for his stay with his family.

“After his death, the two daughters started to torture me. Somehow, I managed to escape and had to struggle a lot. Later, I realised that leaving home was a mistake and came back,’ said an emotional Tarun.

However, Tarun was rescued by defence personnel after they caught him moving suspiciously near Punjab border. Only after narrating his ordeal, the officials made arrangements for Tarun’s return to Odisha.

Tarun’s homecoming is no less than a celebration for the family as they always believed that he would return home one day.

“I am very happy as he is back now. However, we had seen tough times during his absence which was really painful. But now everything will be good for the family,” said Tarun’s younger brother, Barun Bisoyi.

Tarun’s sister Arati Bisoyi said, “After he left, I had not tied Rakhi on anyone’s hand. As my younger brother was staying outside, I only used to send him two rakhis. After 25 years, I am looking forward to tie rakhis on the hands of both my brothers this time.’
