Maoists kill son of Khaprakhol block chairman

Bhubaneswar: Not less than a week after members of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) shot BJD leader and former Rajgangpur chairman Hardeep Singh dead, it seems its now the turn of the Maoists who killed Sashiram Bhoi, son of Khaprakhol block chairman yester night.

According to sources, on Tuesday night, about 20-30 armed members of the extremist group looked for Sashi at his home in Sangunjibhata village under Karuanjhar panchayat. After being denied his presence, they went back but returned again and forced enter his house to find Sashi inside his house. They tied him with a pole, beat mercilessly and later killed with a bayonet.

Though Ganeshram Bhoi, father of Sashi had reportedly received threats from the red rebels before, its still not clear why the Maoists targeted the son.

On Monday Maoists allegedly abducted two tribals of Elengabalsa village under Bandhugaon block in Koraput protesting the arrest of two of their supporters.
