Maoists gun down ward member

Nabarangpur: In a bizarre incident, the Maoists murdered a ward member at Rajpur village here under Kundei police station on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Rohidas Gond.

According to sources the ultras called Rohidas from his house and tied his hands and legs with a rope before allegedly firing at his head. Gond, however, died on the spot while the rebel fled the spot soon after committing the crime. The ultras took such ghastly action on the ward member suspecting him as a police informer, sources added. It is suspected that the Mainipur Division of CPI (Maoists) could have committed the crime. Notably, at least six people were killed by the red extremist for last two years.
