Maoist supporter beaten to death by relatives
Both the legs of the deceased, Rajesh Mallick (30) were tied by two of his relatives before the body was thrown into the river in Sorada area, police said. Though Rajesh was killed on September 24, the incident came to light on Friday after police arrested Bansi Mallick, uncle of the deceased.
Bansi confessed to police that he along wih another relative, who is yet to be nabbed, murdered Rajesh and threw the body into the river, Aska sub-divisional police officer, A Ch Padhi, said.
Police had initially registered a missing person case after the mother of the deceased Kuntala complained to police that her son is missing. However, the body is yet to be recovered and fire brigade and police personnel were trying to locate it, the SDPO said.
Rajesh was arrested by police on July 6, 2010 on charges of being a Maoist supporter. He was released on bail recently, police said. After his release, Rajesh was creating panic among villagers in the name of Maoists, police said. The deceased also allegedly misbehaved with women.
Sorada Inspector in-charge K.C.Sethi said angry over his activities, his uncle and another person beat him to death. “We are looking for the other accused in the incident,” he said.
