(image) Bhubaneswar:  A Maoist was arrested on Saturday during an encounter between ultras and security forces from Karapani forest near Orissa-Jharkhand border.

The ultra has been identified as Arjun Sahu, a resident of Gumla district in Jharkhand. 

According to reports, the incident took place when the security forces along with Sundargarh police raided Karapani forest, after getting a tip-off that some Maoists had camped in the area.

There was a fierce exchange of fire which lasted for half an hour, in which a jawan sustained minor injuries. 

The security forces also seized large amount of arms and ammunitions. However other Naxalites managed to flee from the site after the encounter.
