Bhubaneswar:After a gap of nearly three months, the top post of Odisha University of Agriculture (OUAT) has finally been filled up with the appointment of its new vice chancellor today.
 
The name of the college of agriculture dean, Manoranjan Kar, has been announced as the new vice chancellor of the top agriculture institute.
 
After D.P. Ray retired from the VC’s post on December 17, 2012, the principal secretary of agriculture department R.L. Jamuda was given the charge of vice-chancellor in a stopgap manner.  The inordinate delay in selection process had been affected the academic and administrative works of the university.
 
For the permanent appointment, the then Chancellor and Governor MC Bhandare had interviewed nine candidates including Kar shortlisted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). However, no announcement was made in this regard.
 
Other candidates, who were interviewed, are S.S. Nanda, Dibakar Nayak,  Ashutosh Samanatray, Bhudadeb Mishra, R.N. Senapati, R.K. Panda, N.K. Dhal and P.K. Jena.
