Paradip: Five days after bodies of a woman and her 3 children were found floating in Mahanadi River near Kujang in Paradip; police have arrested the accused, who happens to be the father of the murdered woman.

According to the police, the accused, Akshay Sethi, in a bid to pocket Rs 3 lakh received by her elder daughter Mamina as compensation amount following her husband's death, had committed the murders.

Mamina's husband, Ananta Sethi, had died in a road accident a few days back.

Sethi plotted the murder as he was planning to spend the money in his younger daughter's wedding, informed the investigating officer.

"The incident took place on May 9. During investigation we found out that the victims were strangulated to death and later their bodies were thrown into the river," investigating officer, Aniruddha Routray, said.

"Circumstantial evidence is too strong in this case. Investigation is still on to find out anyone else's involvement," Routray added.

Bodies of Mamina, her two daughters and son were found floating with face downwards near Shani Mandir of Jagnnathpur Village on May 10.
