Jharsuguda: Chairman of Vedanta Resources Plc. Anil Agarwal, in his maiden visit to Vedanta Limited plant at Jharsuguda on Wednesday said with immense potential for growth and enthusiasm of its people, Jharsuguda is poised to become the growth drive of Odisha and is already evident on ground.

On the side-lines of his official visit to the company’s operation in Jharsuguda, Agarwal met prominent citizens and people’s representative from the district to understand their perspective on regional development and how Vedanta can effectively contribute to it.

The delegation of representative assured Agarwal of all support in his endeavour. Responding to their keen interest of collaborating together to transform the region into an industrial growth hub, he expressed his gesture of thanks to the people. He assured them that despite difficult business scenario the company remain committed to work with the people for sustainable regional development.

He said Odisha is a land of richness in every field including natural resources and a judicious use of the mineral resources holds the key to the growth of Odisha and solutions to the many problems facing the state.

“A true development can only happen through collaborative approach of people, government and industries to ensure timely achievement of developmental aspiration of the state and nation,” he pointed out.

Agarwal also showed keen interest to meet the members of all women Subhalaxmi Cooperative promoted by Vedanta to understand how empowered rural women are transforming their lives through self-entrepreneurship and he appreciated the efforts of the cooperative in transforming the lives of the rural women through enterprise.
He appreciated the effort of the team at Jharsuguda for achieving commendable operational milestones despite difficult business scenario.

Interacting with the employees he stressed that cost optimization, innovation, transparency and good corporate governance are the key to survive the troubled times. He also focused on developing a design centre to promote technological innovation.

During his visit, Agarwal interacted with the employees and their families in a town hall meeting organised at Vedanta Meadows and answered their questions on various issues. He also paid visit to the Laxmi Narayan temple and planted a sapling to commemorate the occasion.
