Bhubaneswar: The chaos prevailing in the state BJP unit for over last seven months came to an end with the appointment of senior member Jaynarayan Mishra as the leader of BJP legislature party on Sunday. Mishra’s name was unanimously decided at the core committee meeting of all legislators, senior party members, state party head KV Singhdeo and secretary in-charge of Odisha Santosh Gangwar.

“We are always with farmers, tribals and the women. We won’t allow any policy of the ruling government affecting these sections, and raise voice against such policies or decisions in Assembly,” said Mishra.

In last August, the saffron party had received a jolt following the resignation of Singhdeo as the leader of legislature party due to reported differences with former party head Jul Oram.

Singhdeo’s differences with Oram had become so irreconcilable that chances of rapprochement appeared remote before the commencement of monsoon session of the state Assembly then.

Though the resignation was not accepted by the party high command, he was asked to continue as the chief.

According to party sources Mishra, the Sambalpur MLA and former transport minister was in race with Baliguda MLA Karendra Majhi for the BJPLP leader's post.

While Mishra appeared to be ahead in the race by dint of being a senior member of the Sangh Parivar, Majhi has distinction of being a strong follower of the slain VHP leader Swami Laxamananda Saraswati besides being the secretary of the BJPLP.

Meanwhile it was also decided in a meeting convened earlier in the day that formation Singhdeo’s new team will be completed end of April.

"We want to give a positive message to people that we would include all activists in building the organisational structure and hand over responsibility to each one of them," Singhdeo said.

In the meeting it was decided that president selection process of the remaining 15 organisational districts will be completed by April 15.
