Bhubaneswar: In connection with state agriculture minister Dama Rout’s casteist remark made earlier, Jagatsingpur SP S.Debadatta Singh on Monday appeared before National Commission for SC and ST in New Delhi.

As per reports, it was alleged that the state minister of agriculture Dr Damodar Rout had expressed some objectionable words on caste in a Public meeting at Kujanga in August 2010.

Reacting to his objectionable comment, Ambedkar manch and other organizations lodged FIR against him in Kujanga Court and demanded resignation of Dr Rout from the Ministry.

Following the incident, Rout moved the High Court for granting him bail; which ordered him to get the bail from the lower court. And on April 4, he appeared before Kujanga JMFC and was granted the bail on the condition of two bailors and deposit of cash of Rs 20,000.

Not satisfying with that, the organizations which had lodged the case against him earlier approached National Commission for SC and ST regarding this matter.

The Commission asked for the action taken report from the state government`s SC/ST Development Department , which the department submitted on December 27, 2010 and again on May 2, 2011 as the Commission demanded.

The Commission summoned Singh to produce before the Commission— and now the proceedings are on.
