Bhubaneswar: Come January 2013, citizens of the state will be able to get the service of right to public service act, which makes the state administration accountable for providing certain services to citizens in a time bound manner. This was decided in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday.

In the first phase, about 25-30 services would be put under the purview of the new law while 75 services would be offered later.

Earlier this month during monsoon session the act was approved by the State Assembly. The act has the provision of penalising officials if they fail to provide services to citizens within the stipulated time period.
