Tributes to 'Biju Babu' on death anniversary

Tributes are being paid across the State to former chief minister Biju Patnaik on the occasion of his 18th death anniversary today. Various programmes to pay homage to the legendary leader have been organised in different parts of the State.

Considered as one of the architects of modern Odisha, Biju Patnaik is revered by the people who popularly address him as ‘Biju Babu.’ His bravery and resoluteness brought him immense success in the political arena. His government paved the way for industrial revolution in the State.

He was instrumental in laying the foundation of progress of Odisha in the fields of education, health, trade, energy and sports. As a seasoned politician, Biju Patnaik is well known in the country as well as outside. Born on March 5, 1926, Patnaik breathed his last on April 17, 1997.
