Bhubaneswar: The state government is all set to establish a “Heritage Cabinet" to preserve history and culture of the state besides making efforts to enrich Odia language.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Parliamentary Affairs department on Wednesday.

As per reports, the Cabinet will co-ordinate with organisations working for preservation, promotion and enrichment of the language, literature history and culture of the State. The body will also advice the department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture and related departments in policy making.

The eight-member Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will constitute Ministers from departments of finance, tourism, Odia language, literature & culture, higher education, school & mass education, IT , SC & ST welfare, handloom & handicraft .

While the Chief Secretary will be the secretary of the Cabinet, the secretary of Odia Language, Literature & Culture will be its convener. Secretaries of all the departments will be special invitees for the Cabinet meetings, the notification said.

The decision regarding setting up of the Cabinet was taken in a meeting of the State Cabinet in Puri on December 26 last year.
