Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday decided to frame charges against two senior IAS officers posted as the secretaries of Rural Development and Women and Child Development departments for contempt of court.

The officers, Surendra Nath Tripathy and Arati Ahuja, RD and WCD secretary respectively, allegedly disobeyed the orders passed by the court pertaining to a PIL on supply of inferior quality of dal for the mid-day meal scheme in schools and unavailability of drinking water in anganwadi centers.

Rejecting a petition of the state government which had sought for modification of an earlier order passed in March 2011, the Division Bench of Chief Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice B N Mohapatra ordered that contempt proceedings against the two officers shall continue and the charges against them would be framed in two weeks.
