Cuttack: The Odisha High court on Tuesday directed the Crime Branch to submit the complete status report of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati killing case by June 29 and directed it to widen the scope of investigation into the case.

Hearing the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, the court directed the investigating agency to widen the ambit of investigation and asked to submit complete report.

The lawyer, in his argument, mentioned that though the police had seized blood strained clothes, masks and sharp weapons from people, they were neither named in the chargesheet nor produced as witnesses during the trial. Besides, the Crime Branch has filed chargesheets in the name of only 14 persons while it earlier has said that 20 to 25 people had murdered Laxmanananda, the lawyer contested.

The Crime Branch did not clarify anything about the other persons who were not chargesheeted, he alleged.
