Bhubaneswar: After two days of public unrest over frequent power cuts extending upto 16-18 hours in a day in the Nabarangpur district, the tense situation has calmed down a bit on Friday following assurance from Southco officials.

Last evening Southco executive engineer Bhagawan Pradhan said there would be no load shedding in the region in coming days.

"Grid erection at Dabugan will solve all the problems," the official said.

Earlier, on Thursday an angry mob had ransacked Southco's Umerkote divison office and set the Nabarangpur executive engineer's vehicle on fire demanding improvement in the situation.
