Bhubaneswar: Revising the pay structure of the labourers, the Government on Wednesday hiked the wage of the daily workers of the state. The hiked wages will be effected after the notification published in Odisha gazatte, Labour and Employment department sources said.
 
Henceforth, the unskilled workers who got Rs 90 per day would get Rs 150 while the wage of semi-skilled labourers has been raised from Rs 103 to Rs 170. Similarly, the Government which had fixed Rs 116 for skilled workers has increased it to Rs 190.
The rate of highly skilled workers has been fixed at Rs 205 as per the revision of the pay structure. Earlier, the highly skilled labourers earned Rs 129 per day, Labour and Employment department sources said.
 
It may be recalled that MLAs cutting across party lines demanded immediate announcement of new pay structure for the daily wage earners in the State Assembly during Monsoon session. Former Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai raised the issue in the House while his party colleagues and members from the opposition supported such demand.
