Bhubaneswar: Rejecting allegations by the Maoists that the state government is not abiding by the agreements it made for the release of two Italian nationals and MLA Jhina Hikaka, home secretary UN Behera today said that the state government is extending all possible support to set free the prisoners it agreed upon.

In the twin Italian hostage case while Subhashree Das alias Mili Panda has been released, three can appeal for bail in the upper court, Behera told media persons. Similarly in Hikaka’s abduction matter, of the agreed 23 prisoners to set them free, four are out on bail, Behera said. While cases of three are still pending with court, eight have not yet applied for bail, he noted.

The official however made serious note of the matter that while the government is abiding by the agreements it made with the red rebels, they have killed four civilians and four security personnel since March 14.
