Bhubaneswar: Despite many incidents of gold seizure from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Bhubaneswar, smuggling attempts to sneak the yellow metal past the vigilant eyes refuse to die down.

Customs officials today thwarted another such case and detained two passengers of Indian origin. Gold weighing about 1 kg was recovered from their possession.

According to reports, personnel of Air Intelligence Unit of Customs at the airport intercepted two passengers, hailing from New Delhi and Jagatsinghpur who arrived from Bangkok and Dubai respectively by Air India flight AI-339 and AI-077.

On searching their body and luggage, gold worth about Rs 31,54, 620 was seized from them.

Official sources informed that both these cases are the fourth and fifth gold seizure incidents booked by the intelligence unit in last 10 days.
