Puri: A meeting of the managing committee of Jagannath temple held under chairmanship of Puri royal Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb today, decided on the schedule of Nabakalebar Jatra, which will be held this year and discussed about the temple’s annual budget.

‘Ghata Paribartan’ of the ‘Chaturdha Murti’ – idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Sudarshana – will be held on June 15 whereas ‘Nabajaubana Darshan’ will on July 17. The world-famous Ratha Yatra will be organised on July 18.

The ‘Banajaga Jatri’, people who will undertake the journey to search ‘daru’ (neem tree) for making of the idols, will stay at Deuli mutt on April 2 and reach Mangala temple on April 3. Banajaga is considered the opening chapter of the Nabakalebar process.

Meanwhile, a budget of Rs 239 crore for the temple for 2015-16 was presented in the meeting, also attended by Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator S.C. Mohapatra and other managing committee members.

Notably, the Chhatisa Nijog, the apex body of temple survitors, held its meeting at Srinaar (Puri king’s palace) and approved the schedule of Nabakalebar festival.
