Malkangiri: With the excise department growing more vigilant against trafficking of narcotics, ganja smugglers in Odisha seem to be devising new ways to hoodwink the officials.

Police today nabbed two miscreants while trying to smuggle ganja arranged in guise of a dead body inside a vehicle.

The cops seized the fake 'ambulance' at Gobindpalli chhak in the town and recovered nearly 123 kg of ganja that was being smuggled outside the state.

"We had put up a check post near the chhak following a tip off about one such vehicle passing through the area. During the course of inspection, we intercepted an ambulance and upon inspection, we found nearly 123 kg of ganja placed in guise of a dead body inside the vehicle," Gobindpalli police outpost in-charge Manoranjan Kumbhar said.

The accused duo hail from Bhopal area of Madhya Pradesh. The narcotics and the fake ambulance have been seized, police said.
