Kendrapara: After the special task force (STF) of Crime Branch, Vigilance has now intensified its probe into allegations that several government officials helped arrested gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito to acquire several tenders and other government projects in Kendrapara district.

Multiple teams of the anti-corruption wing of the State government today visited several government offices in Kendrapara including the offices of sub-registrar, RWSS, RD and R & B and a branch of IDBI Bank to collect information.

Sources said a Vigilance team also visited the municipality office to collect documents regarding the allotment of land for the petrol pump owned by Tito’s family and relatives. The investigating team is trying to ascertain whether all norms were followed or undue favours were shown by violating the guidelines, informed sources.

The names of officers who were on duty during the tenure are also being collected, sources said.

The Vigilance Cell is looking into the liability of Govt officials of various departments under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Earlier on Wednesday, raids were conducted at offices of Garadapur tehsil, Derabisha tehsil and RTO office at Dehuria tehsil by the Vigilance department. Similarly, Civil Supplies department’s office was also raided.
