Rourkela: Four persons were arrested by excise sleuths during a raid on alleged illicit liquor traders and huge quantity of materials for preparing liquor were seized from their possession in Odisha's Sundargarh district.

A team of excise personnel conducted a raid at Kaliposh in Bisra police station yesterday and seized 15 quintals of fermented mahua flower wash, 615 litres of distilled liquor, 29 plastic drums of 200 litre capacity and 10 aluminium containers used for distillation, Inspector In-Charge, Manoj Sethi said.

However, another person allegedly involved in the preparation of brew managed to escape, he said.

A few days ago, seven persons were arrested at K Balang and six held at Bhalulata in the district by excise sleuths during separate raids, Sethi said all the three places were Maoist infested areas.
