Got into trouble but safe now, says former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda
Bhubaneswar: Former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda who was reportedly missing since yesterday evening from Kolkata, was traced this evening.Nanda, over a phone call to OTV informed that he was pick pocketed and apparently lost his mobile phone due to which he could not contact his family.
“I was pick-pocketed in Kolkata after which I chased the miscreant who entered a hotel where a police raid was on. The cops grilled me and since I had no phone, I could not contact my family members. I am completely safe now,” said Nanda.
The matter came to fore after his son, Sambit Nanda reported that his father was “missing” since last evening. The MLA who was supposed to return to Bhubaneswar this morning in a flight had not shown up.
When Sambit tried to call up his father, the latter’s phone was switched off. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged at the Shakespeare Sarani police station.
It may be mentioned here that on June 3, some unidentified miscreants had hurled crude bombs at Nanda’s vehicle near Takhurpal village under Gondia block of his constituency. Though the vehicle of Nanda sustained extensive damage, he escaped unhurt in the incident. The incident occurred when he was on his way to attend ‘Dhenkanal Swabhiman Surakshya Abhiyan’ rally along with his supporters.
