Sambalpur: Seven students were injured, two of them critically after a school van they were travelling in rammed into a JCB parked at the roadside at Ambiranagar in Sambalpur Town today morning.

The injured, identified as students of St. Joseph School were initially rushed to the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later the two critically injured students were shifted to a private hospital after their condition deteriorated, reports said.

According to reports, the mishap occurred at around 7.15 am when the van carrying around 15 students from Ambiranagar was heading towards the school.

One of the injured students informed that steering of the vehicle got jammed following which the van dashed into a JCB parked on the roadside.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van fled the spot after the mishap. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started investigation to establish the exact reason behind the mishap.
