Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister on Saturday said parliamentarians, legislators and elected representatives can play a key role in mainstreaming the climate change issues into policy making.
 
Speaking at a function on climate change here Patnaik said, “The success of our efforts for adaptation to and mitigation of the effects of climate change depends on the understanding and internalisation of these issues by the elected representatives from the level of gram panchayats to the State legislatures and the Parliament.”
 
He added the climate change issues are multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral. Addressing these issues require combined efforts by governments, scientists, environmentalists, sectoral experts, civil society, media and the community at large.
 
The meeting was also attended by Environment and Forest Minister Bijayshree Routray, Revenue Minister SN Patro, MPs, MLAs, elected representatives of the local bodies and British Deputy High Commissioner.
