Bhubaneswar: Noted academician, linguist, writer and researcher Trilochan Mishra passed away yesterday night at his residence in Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar. He was 92 and was suffering from old age related ailments since long.

Mishra was the principal of Bhadrak college, Ravenshaw University and was the vice chancellor of Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri. Starting his career as a professor in English, he discharged his duties effectively under the Odisha Education Service between 1949 and 1983. Though being a professor in English, Mishra also left his mark in Sanskrit and Philosophy.

For his contribution in teaching and writings, he was conferred the prestigious D. Litt degree by Utkal University, Ravenshaw University and Jagannath Sanskrit University.
His latest contribution – Sanskrit, Language and Learning, is currently being used as a reference book in foreign universities.
