Bhubaneswar: Officials of the East Coast Railway on Monday assured the State government that Bhubaneswar railway station would be developed as a world class station and Puri railway station would be upgraded, officials said.

Indra Ghosh, General Manager, East Coast Railway accompanied by senior ECoR officials met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed railway development activities at a high level meeting.

"During the meeting, a presentation was made by the railways about future development plan of Bhubaneswar station to make it a world class one," a senior rail official said. The CM was apprised of various passenger amenities and facilities for the upgraded station.

"The plans for Puri railway station to make it a model station in the context of the ensuing Nav Kalebara festival was also discussed during the meeting," he said.

Patnaik asked the Railways to submit a formal proposal for assistance from the state government, he said.
