Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, the Police Commissionerate of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today introduced an all new e-library facility that will give the law enforcers access to all the latest and archived data on laws and criminal proceedings.

Inaugurating the facility, Police Commissioner YB Khurania said "The online interface is aimed to enhance the knowledge of police officials on various matters pertaining to law and order, landmark judgements by major courts since 1950, Central and State rules, and their amendments so that they can refer it while discharging their duties."

"Some dedicated portals have been created for reference and contain plethora of reading materials and literature. Police officers can also study the evolution of laws over generations," he added.

This apart, a cyber investigation and training cell was also launched which will not only help train officers but will also provide up-to date equipment while dealing with modern crimes like hacking, and online fraud. As many as five to six officers can get training under the guidance of cyber experts in a phase-wise basis, police sources said.

The facility will be rolled out very soon for use at the DCP's office in Bhubaneswar and subsequently at other major police stations in the twin cities.
