Cuttack: At an age when most of the kids enjoy watching cartoons or playing video games, 10-year old Abhishek Sahoo of Cuttack spends most of his time playing drums. Because of his unique talent of playing drums, Abhishek is now quite popular as 'Kid drummer of Odisha'.

Abhishek is a real treat to watch when he performs on stage.  According to his father Alok, he has performed in over 200 shows and received many awards and won accolades for his unique talent.

A Class VI student of SCB Medical Public School in Cuttack, Abhishek developed an interest of playing drums when he was only three-years-old.

Abhishek has won appreciations from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Ministers Juel Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan for his extraordinary achievement.

"My inspiration is percussionist Sivamani but I don't have a guru to train me. I follow other drummers on Youtube and learn how to play by watching their videos," said Abhishek.

Abhishek has also worked as a child artiste in Odia serials and documentaries including Tarang's daily soap, 'Aama Ghara Laxmi'.

Abhishek has also been selected for a Hindi movie to be directed by Punjabi filmmaker Jagir Boparai. But at present, he wants to concentrate on studies, informed his elated father Alok Sahoo.

"Whatever Abhishek earns from the shows, he spends the amount for education of unprivileged children and also does other charity works in the city," said Abhisehk's father Alok.

Though Abhishek Sahoo was earlier selected for 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2016, unfortunately he could not participate because of some issues.
