Bhuabneswar: The State council of ministers on Saturday approved the draft proposal of the first Supplementary Budget for the 2013-14 financial year. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here.

Sources said the Supplementary Budget will be presented on the second day of the forthcoming winter session of the state Assembly scheduled to begin on November 28.

This year's Supplementary Budget is 10-15% more than the budget passed in the 2012-13 financial year, official sources added.

"At the end of every year there is a review about the allocation required for each department. There is also discussion about budget for any emergency situation. After the state Assembly’s approval only for the Supplementary Budget, the government will be able to spend money from state exchequer," said Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya.

Besides ministers, chief secretary JK Mohapatra and Finance Secretary UN Behera were present in the meeting.
