Bhubaneswar, March 23: The ADG and chief investigating officer at Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), Gopabandhu Mallik, was transferred as ADG (Communications) at State police headquarters on Saturday following the dowry torture case lodged by his sister-in-law against him.
 
Senior IPS officer Santosh Upadhyaya who was Inspector General of Police (Communication) was posted in the place of Gopabandhu as chief investigator of OHRC.
 
Gopabandhu’ sister-in-law Santosini Mallik on Friday lodged a case of dowry torture against the senior police officer at Balasore Town Police Station following which the State Assembly plunged into turmoil on Saturday.
 
Santosini made accused Gopabandhu and his other relatives of torturing her for more dowries. Even the senior officer separated her two daughters from her, she alleged in her FIR.
 
Reacting to the complaint, Gopabandhu said, "In a democracy, all citizens have right to file FIR and it is the duty of police to investigate the allegations. Let the investigating officer unearth the truth. I will cooperate with the police," Mallick said.
