(image) Bhubaneswar: Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit on Thursday assured that the Shiv Shakti Jagannath temple in Pushp Vihar, which was demolished, will be built in the same place.
The assurance was given to the ten-member representative team that had gone to meet the CM today. In the meeting, the ten-member team had put forth its demand to reconstruct the temple in the same site.

According to reports, a representative team of Delhi govt and Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath would look into the reconstruction of the temple.

“The CM has assured that the temple will be built in the same place and for that she would be meeting the local MLA’s and minister Kamal Nath. She also said that after the temple is constructed, she would visit the temple,” a member of the representative team said.

Earlier, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in Delhi had demolished the temple at Pushp Vihar. The authorities had claimed that the structure was demolished following approval from the religious committee of the Delhi govt, a claim backed by the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi. They had also said that the temple was built illegally on its land, and the demolition order was issued almost a year ago.

During his maiden visit to Orissa, BJP President Nitin Gadkari had termed the demolition of a temple of Lord Jagannath in Delhi as unfortunate.
