Dalit leader attacked murderously in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A dalit leader was attacked murderously by miscreants here today over some political rivalry. Grievously injured Baidhar Nayak has been shifted to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack from Dhenkanal headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated.

The incident took place when Nayak was returning from peace committee meeting, which was convened by police over a group clash occurred yesterday.

Notably, some miscreants had attacked councillor of ward no 8 Sumitra Bhoi (BJD) when she protested attack on his brother. She said the miscreants belong to her rival group.

Following the incident the supporters of the councillor ensued a scuffle with the miscreants followed by a clash.

Later, it was pacified after police intervention.
