Bhubaneswar: Tightening the noose around criminal brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta, lodged in Jharpada and Balasore jails respectively, the Commissionerate police on Wednesday said it will issue arrest warrants against 15 persons suspected to be involved in the criminal activities of the gangster duo.

Informing this to media persons here today, police commissioner YB Khurania said, “Arrest warrants will be issued soon against 15 persons who are believed to be looking after the arms smuggling business and tender affairs of Dhalasamanata brothers. We believe that these people must have more information about criminal activities of the gangster siblings.”

“These people will be given one month's time to depose. If they fail to do so, they would be declared absconders,” Khurania stated.

“If needed steps would be taken to seize properties of the people against whom the warrants will be issued,” the commissioner noted.

In a related development, another dreaded criminal Sangram Patra, considered to be an aide of Dhalasamant brothers, was arrested by Cuttack Sadar police today. Sources said that Patra has more than eight criminal cases pending against him.

With Patra’s arrest, Commissionerate police has so far arrested 20 associates of the duo. Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora had said of the 20 associates of Dhalasamant brothers, most are professional criminals.

Sources informed that commissionerate police has chalked out a special strategy to nab 10 hardcore criminals who were in the core group of these two criminal brothers.
