Cops smell rats in Delang girls’ case

Puri: After the kidnapped minor girls, who returned home yesterday, described their story before the cops, police suspects that a human-trafficking racket is active in Delang area of the district.

Sources said dance teacher Krushna Mallik had taken three girls to Balasore to perform in a stage show there on April 19. However, instead of sending them home after the show, he forcibly took them to Uttar Pradesh.

Following a complaint filed by the family members of the girls, a special team of Puri police went to UP and rescued them from Juanpur area of Mugalsarai district. There, police found a woman called Kajal, hailing from Kanash area in Puri district, to be behind the incident.

With the probe unfolding new theories every day, police have started investigating thoroughly into the incident. Puri SP Ashish Singh said police is trying to find the answers to questions like ‘who is Kajal and what does she do?’ and ‘Is she is running the racket or anyone else?’.
