Bhubaneswar: 36 platoons of police force, including SOG Jawans, OSAP jawans and home guards have been deployed in and around Odisha Assembly to ensure effective crowd control and security to the VVIPs, said Commissionerate Police.

“Two DCPs and two additional DCPs have been pressed into service to supervise security arrangements round the clock during the Assembly session,” said Police Commissioner  RP Sharma. 100 senior officers will also keep a strict vigil on security affairs, he added.

Besides, two police control rooms have also been set up near the assembly, Sharma informed the media persons.

Sources said, for the first time, close circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at all vulnerable points on the premises of the Assembly as part of the three-layer security system.

All the entrance and exit points of the Assembly have been sealed and police have also been deployed at several places in civil dress.
