Bhubaneswar: Former Minister Raghunath Mohanty case has refused to die down in Odisha Assembly as Opposition Congress were on their toes today like the previous day demanding arrest of Mohanty and a discussion on the issue in the House. With uproarious scenes persisting, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat was forced to adjourn the House till Monday.

The Speaker, on the day of Raghunath Mohanty resignation, managed to run the House only 22 minutes amid heavy noise following which he adjourned Assembly repeatedly.

As soon as the House assembled, the Congress members stormed into the well and shouted anti-government slogan regarding the issue of former Housing and Urban development minister. The legislators alleged that the government handed over the case to HRPC in order to supress the case. They responded little to the question hour while Food and Civil Supply minister Pratap Keshari Dev, who was newly assigned the additional charge of IT yesterday, was replaying to the various questions of legislators.

"We had said yesterday that the case was handed over to HRPC to cover up the matter and that is why Speaker today rejected our adjournment motion notice on the topic growing atrocities against women in State".

Notably, senior BJD leader and Basta MLA stepped down as Minister of Law, Housing and Urban development on Friday after being accused of dowry torture by his daughter-in-law.
