Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today took Sanjay Kumar Nishank, the BBA graduate arrested on charges of looting properties worth over Rs 60 lakhs in the past one and a half year, on a 4-day remand for interrogation.

Nishank, a resident of Atri village under Khurda police limits, will be interrogated to find out his connection in other cases of theft and the technique he used to execute the crimes. He was arrested on July 26 following charges of multiple robberies, sources said.

The Chandrasekharpur Police had seized 778 gm gold, 796 gm silver jewellery, 6 laptops, 43 mobiles, 29 watches, 2 LED TVs, 3 digital cameras, tablets and wallets after arresting him. Passports, debit and credit cards, Aadhaar cards, computer hard disks, calculators, guitars and music systems were also seized from his possession.

According to sources, Nishank used to put on a helmet while executing the crime.

He started stealing in apartments and showrooms around one and a half year ago. Several cases are pending against him at different police stations, informed police sources.

A few days ago, police got some clues on his whereabouts by tracking a mobile phone he had stolen and succeeded in nabbing him.
