Chitgate: CBI search in Asha Agro offices

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted simultaneous searches at 11 places in Kolkata and 5 places in Odisha against Asha Agro Ecomotors Industries ltd.

According to sources, searches were conducted in the offices and residences of company’s Managing Director Tarun Kumar Barui and directors Ranjit Santra, Susanta Mohapatra, Ananta Barik, Parimal Biswas.

Meanwhile, two top officials of CBI arrived in the agency’s office here on Thursday. Joint Director Rajeev Singh and Special Investigating Team (SIT) DIG S. Bagchi are here to take stock of the investigation into the multi-crore chit fund scam in the State, sources said.

Besides, the duo are discussing with other officials of the Central agency about strategies on how to conduct raids on the premises of the chit fund companies which are suspicious in their deals but have not been brought under the purview of its probe so far. Persons will be identified who will be summoned for questioning in this regard, they added.
