Chit fund scam: CBI questions Choudwar-Cuttack MLA, wife

Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal and his wife Laxmibilasini Biswal were questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths on Friday in connection with their alleged links with chit fund scam in the state.

Pravat, who reached the CBI office here at 4pm, was grilled by the agency for around five hours.

After the interrogation, Pravat told media, “CBI wanted to know about details regarding a land deal between his wife and Seashore Group.”

Laxmibilasini sold a land area of 34 gunthas in Jajpur district to the chit fund firm for Rs 29 lakh, the BJD legislator added.

Pravat’s wife, a former chairperson of Cuttack Zilla Parishad, appeared before CBI few hours after the legislator and did not give any comments after the questioning.
