Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday rejected the bail pleas of MP Ramchandra Hansda and media house owner Madhu Mohanty, who are currently in jail for their involvement in the multi-crore chit fund scam in the State.

While hearing Hansda’s interim bail plea, the court maintained that health-related reasons furnished by the petitioner are not enough to accept the petition.

In case of Madhu Mohanty, the court ruled that there had been no change in the circumstances since the rejection of the first bail plea and hence the question of reconsidering the earlier decision does not arise.

In his petition, Mohanty had contended that the investigation has progressed enough and there should not be any problems in granting him bail.

Notably, Hansda and Mohanty have been arrested for their links with scam-tainted Nabadiganta and Artha Tatwa chit funds, respectively.
