Bhubaneswar: To check malpractice and ensure transparency during Matriculation and Plus-II examinations, the State Government has decided to install CCTV cameras at all examination centres across the State starting 2018-19 academic year.

Addressing a workshop on quality education and restructuring of examination procedures in Bhubaneswar, School and Mass Education department Secretary, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said CCTVs will be installed with an aim to make all examination centres 'Zero Copy' zones.

"There are 2,818 examination centres in the State. I am trying my best to introduce CCTV cameras in all exam centres from next year," Mohapatra said.

"We have decided to change some rules for Matriculation examination. A committee has been constituted and will be led by the board chairman and five other members. All suggestions made in the workshop will be submitted to the committee after which necessary steps will be taken,' he said.

Mohapatra further stressed that due to competition among teachers, there is apprehension that they might adopt unfair means to help students score good marks in exams. Hence, teachers should not encourage students to qualify in the exams through unfair means, he added.
