Bhubaneswar: The CBI’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing into multi-crore chit-fund scam in Odisha, has written a letter to the state’s Chief Secretary GC Pati seeking help regarding security of accused during remand, sources said.

The office given to the SIT team does not have proper police lock-up to keep an accused, thereby causing a headache for the investigating team, they added.

Further, the SIT urged the Chief Secretary to give a direction to the DGP to make arrangement for keeping the accused in night during remand period.

The letter suggested Nayapalli police station and Mahila police station can be used to put male and female accused, respectively, during night hours.

Meanwhile, sources added the chief secretary has asked the Home Department to suggest what steps can be taken by DGP and Commissionerate Police to ensure safety of accused during remand.
